Guesthouse
is
a
renovated,
cozy
old
fisherman's
home
fronting
the
Atlantic
in
Pouch
Cove,
Newfoundland
and
Labrador,
a
picturesque,
traditional
outport
(fishing
village).
A
mere
30
km
from
the
centre
of
St.
John's,
our
location
offers
the
best
of
two
worlds,
a
friendly,
small
community
surrounded
by
a
spectacular
coastline,
but
still
close
to
the
nearby
capital
city
that is full of cultural and culinary attractions.
Here
we
aim
to
recreate
an
earlier,
simpler
lifestyle
by
raising
goats
and
chickens,
growing
fruits
and
berries,
greens
and
traditional
crops.
Two
bedrooms
and
two
bathrooms
are
available
for
our
guests.
In
addition
we
provide
healthy
meals
augmented with wild foods by our forager partner Shawn Dawson, recent author of
The Forager's Dinner.
At
Points
East
we
primarily
cater
to
international
guests
who
want
to
hike
the
East
Coast
Trail.
However,
we
also
welcome
backpackers
and
hikers
who
are
simply
looking
for
a
place
to
clean
up,
relax,
enjoy
the
great
view
or
may
want
to
put
up
a
tent.
Points
East
is
owned
and
operated
by
Dr.
Elke
Dettmer,
a
folklorist
and
one
of
the
founding
members
of
the
East
Coast
Trail Association. She loves to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for the trail and for Newfoundland in general.
